The Dogwood tree is one of the" harbingers of spring" and this year they have held their blossoms for an unusually long time. We are surrounded by mainly oak and hickory forest and the dogwood seem to thrive in that environment. After the blooms have dropped it will begin to develop berries that will ripen in the fall and are bright crimson in color. Birds are attracted to the berries for a source of food.
